The design of this umbrella is a celebration of the opening of the mansion's second floor to the public! The second floor opening was part of the Frick's grand reopening in 2025. 

The interior of this umbrella features a detail from John Alden Twachtman’s paintings for the second floor ceiling of the Frick mansion, installed in 1914. The taste for this whimsical style, known as chinoiserie, was popular in eighteenth-century France and more broadly in nineteenth-century European and English homes.
