
The design of this umbrella is a celebration of the opening of the mansion's second floor to the public! The second floor opening was part of the Frick's grand reopening in 2025.
The interior features a detail from John Alden Twachtman’s paintings for the second floor ceiling, installed in 1914. The taste for this whimsical style, known as chinoiserie, was popular in eighteenth-century France and more broadly in nineteenth-century European and English homes.
