A gorgeous, classic design in a contemporary shape, this long scarf is the perfect accessory. 

The scarf’s swirling motif was adapted from the design of the wrought iron balustrade of the Frick mansion’s Grand Staircase. It was conceived by White, Allom & Co. after the Dean’s Staircase at St. Paul’s Cathedral and the King’s Staircase at Hampton Court, and was installed in 1914.

In 1913, early into the design process, Charles Allom outlined his overall approach: “The Entrance Hall, Corridors and Staircase should, I think, be serious and simple, with plain wall surfaces, all ornament confined to architectural features such as doors, windows, cornices, and the balustrade, which may perhaps be the only ornate work in the house.”
