Thomas More Ring

This distinctive ring is based on that worn by Sir Thomas More in Hans Holbein the Younger's celebrated portrait, painted in 1527. Holbein was a painter and master of many arts, including jewelry design. His remarkably detailed renderings of the jewelry worn by his sitters display this skill.

A prominent statesman, lawyer, and scholar, More served as Lord Chancellor of England under Henry VIII before his execution in 1535. In Holbein's portrait, his jewelry contributes to the dignified and authoritative presentation of his status.

Recreated in 22-karat gold, the ring closely follows the design of its painted counterpart. A reproduction of More's signature is engraved by hand on the interior, creating a discreet connection between the man and the jewel. 

Cast from a fabricated model and hand-finished, the Thomas More Ring brings one of Holbein's most compelling painted portraits off the canvas as a wearable piece of art.

Each piece is individually handcrafted in Distefano's atelier in New York City, reflecting the artistry, materiality, and attention to detail of the originals.
