This box is inspired by the soft-paste porcelain plaques on an eighteenth-century French table that was most likely custom-made for a wealthy woman of refined taste. Furniture incorporating porcelain plaques was particularly fashionable in Paris in the second half of the eighteenth century. A place to keep jewelry, trinkets, and other precious possessions.

Porcelain and gold, 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 in.
