Although The Frick Collection is best known to the general public for its paintings, its galleries also house what John Pope-Hennessy, in his introduction to these volumes, calls "the finest collection of small bronzes in the United States and one of the finest collections of small bronzes in the world."

Among these sculptures are masterpieces by Pollaiuolo, Riccio, Bertoldo, and Severo da Ravenna, as well as the finest surviving interpretation of a model by Michelangelo, and important works by Northern European artists.

All eighty-four sculptures in The Frick Collection are discussed within these pages, adn all are illustrated in gravure reproductions, including many details and fifteen full-page plates in color.
